We consider ourselves incredibly fortunate to have come across Lifestyle Builds. The functional well-designed plans with high ceilings and generous garage space are surprisingly spacious and exactly what we had been looking for.
One of the standout aspects of building with Lifestyle Builds for us was their flexibility. They quickly adapted one of their base plans to fit our section and happily accommodated our requests to move walls, add ply, and adjust doors and windows. Allowing us to manage the painting, kitchen, flooring, and fixtures helped keep costs down, making the build affordable compared to other quotes we had received and possible for us to press go.
As our site is over two hours away, we needed a team we could trust to get on with the mahi. Lifestyle Builds had our confidence every step of the way. They were always responsive - even after hours, clear in addressing our questions, and proactive in offering solutions. We received weekly updates, photos, and schedules via Dropbox and felt fully involved throughout.
We could not be happier with our decision to work with Lifestyle Builds and one hundred percent recommend them to anyone looking for a reliable, professional contractor who goes the extra mile (not only returning topsoil to the site, but barrowing it into place) and takes great pride in their work as seen in the craftsmanship of our verandah.

A Cut Above
Not only did they ensure that everything was done to a top quality finish, we finished up ahead of schedule.
We engaged Lifestyle Builds with a dream, and not their usual offering of a hybrid home.
KJ and Ian took my hand drawn plans, considered the challenge, offered some great additions, rendered them into a visual set of real plans, worked out the best way forward taking in to account our challenges regarding extra high wind zones, flood hazard areas and climate and put forth a price to build our bespoke 4 Bedroom home in Kaikoura.
Not only was the project a complete success, the process was seamless. KJ’s transparency on all matters and exceptional project management skills ensured the council and ourselves had everything we needed and often ahead of time. Never shy to answer a question and always attentive and genuine I could not think of asking anybody else to do work for us in the future.
The proof is in the pudding.. Ian’s attention to detail and onsite leadership skills shined through on this one. From the very beginning it was clear that these guys are absolutely involved and more than capable of delivering an amazing outcome. Not only did they ensure that everything was done to a top quality finish, We finished up ahead of schedule. They even went above and beyond creating a better entranceway than initially planned.
With the houses stand out features they went further again. Finishing on the Cedar cladding and Kwila deck done to a level of which we consider perfection. Not a rouge nail or screw line out of order! and that is just one of the reasons why these guys are a cut above!
We couldn’t recommend the Lifestyle Builds team any higher and would genuinely go further as to allow prospective clients to get in touch should they want to hear it for themselves!

Nothing Short of Fantastic
We engaged with Lifestyle Builds in 2022 for the construction of a Garage/Cottage as a secondary dwelling on a large residential section.
The entire process from initial concept/design, quoting, and onto to consenting & building completion in mid 2023; has all been managed so efficiently, effectively, and professionally.
As first-timers with a new build, there was so much for us to learn and understand. Our experiences with other potential builders/companies, while reasonably positive, still felt as though the focus was on just securing our contract - rather than achieving a final product we were happy with and within budget.
From our very first contact with KJ, we felt extremely supported with helpful advice, realistic expectations, and a clear and obvious desire to work with us on a project we were all really happy with.
KJ and Ian have been nothing short of fantastic to work with - their flexibility and availability to work through any challenges and queries we had throughout the process, the transparency of costing and scheduling, and finishing on time and on budget.
We are so pleased with the final product, and honestly can’t recommend Lifestyle Builds highly enough.

His clear communication and empathy for us as clients made any decision or change request an easy and simple process. We were always kept abreast of the build progress, timelines and the budget. Requests that we made over the course of the build were always accommodated or alternative suggestions presented which was hugely appreciated.
Building a house can be a stressful and expensive endeavour, however this was far from our experience. It is clear that KJ puts his clients at the center of how he operates and this made all the difference. The service he provided during the build process and aftercare was second to none and because of this, I would highly recommend KJ to anyone looking to build.
Should we ever build again, KJ would be our first port of call. I am happy to provide verbal references if required in addition to my written recommendation of this individual.

At all times Kj was professional and approachable. he was always available to answer any questions or to discuss ideas with us, often taking the time to have face-to-face discussions to ensure we were entirely happy with the project.
We found KJ to be innovative and accommodating, he was able to take our preliminary ideas and develop them into a modern design that was in keeping with the theme of the house and met the needs we had as a family.
KJ brought a great deal of knowledge and current practise to the building project. We enjoyed working alongside KJ as he was well organised and mapped out our journey, while being flexible enough to accommodate and changes that occurred. This was invaluable for us as a busy working could with a young family. Everything was taken care of right through to final consent. Easy Going, Friendly and Committed to our Project
So easy to work with and really made the whole process stress free for us
KJ was the Project Manager who oversaw our house extension and renovation.
Right from the beginning, KJ was knowledgeable about the renovation process, systematic in his approach and alleviated any concerns we had. He contacted and dealt with all the City Council, bank, insurance, architect, builders and contractors and made sure the work progressed accordingly. He kept us informed of all discussions, decisions and next steps throughout.
We found KJ to be easy going, friendly and committed to our project. He was quick to address any issues or concerns, gave us regular updates on the project and budget, outlined all stage of the build and kept a comprehensive record of the project. KJ was so easy to work with and really made the whole process stress free for us. When something needed doing, he was on hand to make sure it happened, in our case, KJ even moved bricks himself to ensure the bricklaying could begin on schedule!
